MüzeKart: the annual card for people with a Turkish ID number

Only three fees are printed on the Ministry’s product pages, and those are the three shown. The rest are deliberately left blank here rather than guessed: the reduced, academy and diplomat tiers are priced at the desk against your document, and the mobile and digital pages publish no figure at all. An earlier version of this page carried tariff-sheet numbers that turned out to be out of date, which is why nothing here is inferred.
Prices and conditions on this page are read from the Ministry’s own product pages, not from a tariff PDF -- the published tariff turned out to be out of date. The Ministry revises fees by administrative decision, so confirm at the counter before you quote a number to a group.
It is not unlimited, and almost nobody says so
The Ministry states it plainly on the digital, reduced, academy, accessible and 99 card pages: the card gives you two entries to the same museum over the year, not unlimited access. “Sınırsız değildir” -- it is not unlimited.
So the real difference from a visitor pass is two entries against one, not unlimited against one. It still matters for a guide running the same site weekly, and it is the sort of thing a participant discovers on the third visit rather than the first.
Where to buy it
Which route is open to you depends on the tier, and this catches people out on the day.
Online, at muze.gov.tr or in the app
Requires an account. Mobile cards are issued immediately; MüzeKart 99 can also be bought this way. The academy tier cannot -- it is desk-only.
At a museum or site ticket desk
The only route for the physical card, the academy tier, and anything needing a document check. The queue is the ticket queue, which is the queue you were trying to skip.
What it covers

It expires on the day
The year runs from the day of purchase. A card bought for last season’s trip will not open this season’s turnstile, and the person holding it finds that out at the reader with the whole group behind them. Check the date before the tour, not at the gate.
Where the card does not work
Every card page carries an exclusion list, and the lists are not identical. These six appear on every one of them and need a separate ticket whichever card you hold -- several are exactly the places groups come for:

- Hagia Irene (Aya İrini) Monument
- The Terrace Houses at Ephesus
- The Dark Church at Göreme Open-Air Museum
- Sedir Island
- İstanbul Cinema Museum
Some cards only
- The Serçe Limanı Glass Wreck hall, Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology
- Beykoz Glass and Crystal Museum
- Dolmabahçe Palace, Selamlık section
- The Ancient Pool at Pamukkale
These four depend on which card you hold. The Serçe Limanı hall is missing from the physical MüzeKart list but appears on every other one; Beykoz is listed only on the mobile card; the Selamlık at Dolmabahçe is excluded on several tiers, while the diplomat and 99 cards exclude the whole palace; and the Ancient Pool at Pamukkale is outside the Aegean and Mediterranean passes. Read the page for the exact card before you promise anything.
Two of these sit inside sites your itinerary probably already includes. If the Terrace Houses or the Dark Church are part of the visit, say so in the tour description and again in the pre-tour message. A participant who discovers it at the door reads it as a surprise charge.

How much is a MüzeKart in 2026?
The Ministry states 200 TL for Turkish citizens on its own product pages. MüzeKart 99, for foreign nationals with a residence or work permit, is 750 TL. Reduced, academy and diplomat tiers are set at the desk against your document, and the accessible card is free.
Can a tourist buy a MüzeKart?
No. Every tier is tied to a Turkish ID number, and the mobile card is, in the Ministry’s wording, available exclusively to Turkish citizens. Visitors buy a Museum Pass instead.
What is MüzeKart 99?
The tier for foreign nationals holding a valid residence or work permit, bought with the Turkish ID number that begins with 99. It costs 750 TL, works at more than 350 Ministry and Çanakkale sites, and is not valid at National Palaces sites such as Topkapı and Dolmabahçe.
Can I enter the same museum as often as I like?
No. The Ministry states the card gives two entries to the same museum over the year and is explicitly not unlimited.
Do tour guides get a discount?
Inactive licensed tour guides are listed among those eligible for the reduced card, on proof of document. Active guides working with a group are a separate question -- entitlement there follows the professional credential, and the site directorate is the place to confirm it.
Is there a family card?
No. Every card is issued in one name and is personal to the holder. The only accompanied case is the accessible card, where one companion may enter with the holder.
Does it cover the Terrace Houses at Ephesus?
No. The Terrace Houses are on the exclusion list of every card page, and need a separate ticket bought on site or online. The same applies to the Dark Church at the Göreme Open-Air Museum.
