Museum Pass Türkiye and the four regional passes
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism sells five visitor passes: one nationwide and four tied to a region. They are priced in euro, need no Turkish ID, and run on days rather than a year. Here is what each costs, how many sites it opens, and the rules that catch people out.

Three days is short. It fits the classic Göreme and underground-cities itinerary and not much more.
The Ministry’s tariff also lists a Patara / Olympos PassCard at €45 for ten entries. It is a beach access card rather than a museum pass, which is why it is not in the table above.

Which pass fits which route
Count the provinces, not the days
A regional pass stops working the moment the route leaves its provinces. If a single stop sits outside, the nationwide pass is usually cheaper once you add the separate tickets back in.
Denizli is in two passes -- but not the pool
Pamukkale and Hierapolis sit in Denizli, which appears in both the Aegean and the Mediterranean pass. Neither covers the Ancient Pool at Pamukkale; that is a separate ticket, and it is the part visitors ask about.
The clock starts at the first turnstile
Validity runs from the first museum entrance, not from purchase. Buying the pass the night before costs nothing; scanning it at a small site to “test it” costs a day.
The rules that catch people out
One entrance per museum
Every pass page states it: the pass provides one entrance to each museum. Going back in the same afternoon means buying a ticket. The annual card allows two.
It stops before closing time
The pass is not valid for the night museum programme after 19:00, and last entry is earlier still: the Ministry publishes 18:14 for the Galata Tower and 18:45 for the İstanbul Archaeological Museums and the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts.
Regional passes cover fewer sites than people assume
The İstanbul pass covers thirteen museums, not everything with a ticket booth in the city. Private museums, city tourist cards and Bosphorus attractions are separate purchases.
Where the card does not work
Every card page carries an exclusion list, and the lists are not identical. These six appear on every one of them and need a separate ticket whichever card you hold -- several are exactly the places groups come for:

- The Terrace Houses at Ephesus
- The Dark Church at Göreme Open-Air Museum
- Sedir Island
- İstanbul Cinema Museum
Some cards only
- The Serçe Limanı Glass Wreck hall, Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology
- Beykoz Glass and Crystal Museum
- Dolmabahçe Palace, Selamlık section
- The Ancient Pool at Pamukkale
These four depend on which card you hold. The Serçe Limanı hall is missing from the physical MüzeKart list but appears on every other one; Beykoz is listed only on the mobile card; the Selamlık at Dolmabahçe is excluded on several tiers, while the diplomat and 99 cards exclude the whole palace; and the Ancient Pool at Pamukkale is outside the Aegean and Mediterranean passes. Read the page for the exact card before you promise anything.
Two of these sit inside sites your itinerary probably already includes. If the Terrace Houses or the Dark Church are part of the visit, say so in the tour description and again in the pre-tour message. A participant who discovers it at the door reads it as a surprise charge.

How much is Museum Pass Türkiye?
€165, valid for fifteen days from your first museum entrance, covering more than 350 Ministry and National Palaces sites nationwide.
Which regional pass is cheapest?
Cappadocia at €65 for three days, covering more than ten sites in Nevşehir and Aksaray. The İstanbul pass is €105 for five days and thirteen museums; the Aegean and Mediterranean passes are €95 and €90 for seven days each.
Can I enter the same museum twice?
No. Every pass gives one entrance per museum. Two entries per museum is what the annual MüzeKart offers, and that card needs a Turkish ID number.
Is the İstanbul pass the same as the city tourist cards?
No. Museum Pass İstanbul is the Ministry’s own product and covers thirteen of its museums. The privately sold city cards bundle transport, cruises and private attractions -- a different purchase with different coverage.
Do I need a Turkish ID number?
No. That is the difference from the annual card: the passes are sold to visitors with no Turkish ID requirement.
Does a pass cover the Terrace Houses at Ephesus?
No. The Terrace Houses and the Dark Church at Göreme are on the Ministry’s exclusion list and need a separate ticket at the door.
Which pass should a two-week multi-region trip buy?
The nationwide one. A regional pass covers only the provinces in its name, and a single stop outside them undoes the saving.
