MüzeKart 2026: prices, who can buy it and where it works

MüzeKart is the annual museum card of Türkiye’s (Turkey’s) Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 2026 it costs 200 TL (100 TL reduced or academy); foreign residents buy MüzeKart 99 for 750 TL. Buy it at muze.gov.tr, in the app or at a museum desk. It covers more than 350 state sites for a year, two entries per museum. Buying one requires a Turkish ID number or a foreign resident ID number starting with 99 or 98; visitors buy the Museum Pass instead.

The tiers, and who can hold each one

Eight products, and the eligibility rules matter more than the price. One of them is aimed straight at our own readers: inactive licensed tour guides qualify for the reduced card, and working licensed guides hold a separate Guide Card.

  • MüzeKart

    200 TL

    Turkish citizens, Blue Card holders and citizens of Northern Cyprus. The physical card can only be bought at a museum or site ticket desk -- it is not posted. Citizens of Northern Cyprus cannot buy online, so for them this tier comes only as the plastic card; KKTC students can take the reduced card instead.

  • Mobil MüzeKart

    200 TL

    Turkish citizens. Lives in the Ministry’s app; you generate a QR code at the entrance instead of queueing for the desk.

  • Dijital MüzeKart

    200 TL

    Turkish citizens. First use must happen at the museum where it was bought, after which it converts to the mobile card in the app.

  • MüzeKart İndirimli

    100 TL

    On proof of document: retired teachers, inactive licensed tour guides, students over 18, foreign students in Turkish secondary and higher education, students who are citizens of Northern Cyprus, and open high-school students.

  • Dijital Akademi MüzeKart

    100 TL

    Turkish citizens in active higher education, and Turkish academics, on proof of an e-Devlet student or teaching-staff document. Desk purchase only -- there is no online route.

  • MüzeKart Diplomat

    200 TL

    Staff of foreign missions and representations in Türkiye, plus spouses and children. Issued by DÖSİMM against signed official documentation.

  • Engelsiz MüzeKart

    Free

    Visitors with a disability ID card or current medical report. Free, and one companion may accompany the holder -- the companion must be a Turkish citizen and show ID at the desk.

  • Mobil MüzeKart 99

    750 TL

    Foreign nationals with a valid residence or work permit, using a Turkish ID number beginning with 99 or 98. Bought online and usable immediately. Not valid at National Palaces sites, including Topkapı and Dolmabahçe.

Fees are from the MüzeKart fee schedule in the Ministry’s entry directive (Annex 2), which matches the figures on the product pages. The mobile and digital cards are versions of MüzeKart+ and carry its fee. Some cards need a document at purchase, so the desk may still ask for proof before selling you the reduced price.

Prices and conditions on this page come from the Ministry’s own directive on museum entry (its fee schedules, card types and free-entry list) and from the Turkish versions of its product pages; the two agree. The Ministry revises fees by administrative decision, so confirm at the counter before you quote a number to a group.

It is not unlimited, and almost nobody says so

The Ministry states it plainly on the digital, reduced, academy, accessible and 99 card pages: the card gives you two entries to the same museum over the year, not unlimited access. “Sınırsız değildir” -- it is not unlimited.

So the real difference from a visitor pass is two entries against one, not unlimited against one. It still matters for a guide running the same site weekly, and it is the sort of thing a participant discovers on the third visit rather than the first.

Where to buy it

Which route is open to you depends on the tier, and this catches people out on the day.

  • Online, at muze.gov.tr or in the app

    Requires an account. Mobile cards are issued immediately; MüzeKart 99 can also be bought this way. The academy tier cannot -- it is desk-only.

  • At a museum or site ticket desk

    The only route for the physical card, the academy tier, and anything needing a document check. The queue is the ticket queue, which is the queue you were trying to skip.

  • On e-Devlet (MüzeKart İşlemleri)

    The free cards -- the accessible card and the mobile cards for citizens aged 18 and under or 65 and over -- are also issued through e-Devlet and the app. A plastic copy of them costs 50 TL at the desk.

What it covers

  • More than 350 museums and archaeological sites of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, National Palaces and the Çanakkale Site Directorate
  • One year from the day of purchase, not to the end of a calendar year
  • Two entries to any one museum over that year, at least three hours apart -- the directive sets the gap, the product pages repeat the two-entry rule
  • MüzeKart 99 is narrower: it excludes National Palaces sites entirely

It expires on the day

The year runs from the day of purchase. A card bought for last season’s trip will not open this season’s turnstile, and the person holding it finds that out at the reader with the whole group behind them. Check the date before the tour, not at the gate.

Who enters free, with no card at all

The Ministry’s entry directive lists the people who enter its museums and sites free. For them, buying a card is unnecessary.

  • Turkish citizens under 18, and teachers accompanying school groups of that age
  • Turkish citizens aged 65 and over
  • Veterans, their parents, spouses and children, and holders of a martyr’s family ID
  • Visitors with a disability, Turkish or foreign; a Turkish citizen with a disability may bring one companion who is also a Turkish citizen
  • Privates and corporals doing compulsory military service
  • ICOM, ICOMOS and UNESCO card holders with a current sticker
  • Holders of a Turkish or foreign press card
  • Travel agency owners and managing directors, with their TÜRSAB ID
  • Ministry of Culture and Tourism staff and retirees, with parents, spouse and children
  • Foreign children aged 8 and under
  • Teachers at state and private schools under the Ministry of Education
  • Active students of archaeology, art history, conservation, Hittitology, Sumerology, anthropology and museology at universities in Türkiye
  • Erasmus and Comenius groups with their teachers, on showing their agreement

Most of these rights stop at the separately priced places: the Terrace Houses at Ephesus, the Dark Church at Göreme, the Serçe Limanı hall in Bodrum, Sedir Island, the İstanbul Cinema Museum and the digital experience museums. Disability, veteran, Ministry staff and heritage-student rights, and children under 8, still apply there.

Citizens aged 18 and under or 65 and over can still take a free Mobile MüzeKart for a QR code at the gate; a plastic copy costs 50 TL at the desk.

Where the card does not work

The Ministry’s directive excludes eight places for every MüzeKart. These six are also on the product pages and need a separate ticket whichever MüzeKart you hold -- several are exactly the places groups come for. The other two, and one exclusion that applies to the mobile card only, are under ‘Some cards only’ because the product pages word them differently. Some cards only

  • Dolmabahçe Palace, Selamlık section

These three are written differently from page to page. The Serçe Limanı hall is missing from the physical MüzeKart page, but the Ministry’s directive excludes it for every MüzeKart; Beykoz is listed only on the mobile card; the directive and the National Palaces both exclude the Selamlık at Dolmabahçe for every MüzeKart, and the diplomat and 99 cards exclude the whole palace. Read the page for the exact card before you promise anything.

Two of these sit inside sites your itinerary probably already includes. If the Terrace Houses or the Dark Church are part of the visit, say so in the tour description and again in the pre-tour message. A participant who discovers it at the door reads it as a surprise charge.

How much is a MüzeKart in 2026?

The Ministry’s fee schedule sets MüzeKart at 200 TL for Turkish citizens, the reduced and academy cards at 100 TL, the diplomat card at 200 TL and MüzeKart 99 at 750 TL. The accessible card is free, and so are the mobile cards for citizens aged 18 and under or 65 and over.

Can a tourist buy a MüzeKart?

No. Every tier needs a Turkish ID number or a status the Ministry recognises (Blue Card, Northern Cyprus citizenship, a diplomatic post), and the mobile card is, in the Ministry’s wording, available exclusively to Turkish citizens. Visitors buy a Museum Pass instead.
